Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran was born on the 10th of March, 1949. She is an American investor as well as a speaker and consultant. In 2001, she launched The Corcoran Group in New York City. She sold the business to NRT for $66 million. In the following months she resigned from the business. Corcoran is one of ABC's original Shark investors, has been a part of each episode of Shark Tank. Corcoran had signed 53 contracts until February 2020. Her largest deal was her $350,000 investment in Coverplay for 40%. Corcoran was born in Edgewater (New Jersey) as the second of ten children from a working-class Irish Catholic family. Florence Corcoran was Florence's mom and a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. Her father was always changing jobs during Corcoran’s life. Her family depended sometimes on food delivered by the local grocer who would deliver free food. Corcoran recalls her father as one who occasionally drank too much and did her mother a disservice and sneer, especially when he'd been drinking. Corcoran was a struggling student in school. She later discovered that she was dyslexic. Corcoran entered high school in St. Cecilia High School Englewood after she had left her Catholic elementary school. Corcoran was proficient in a variety of courses during her first year. She was transferred to Leonia High School and graduated with a grade of D.
