Kamala Harris

Kamala Devi Harris is an American politician from the United States. Born October 20, 1964, she is the 49th Vice-President of the United States. She is the first female vice president and the highest ranking female official in the United States. Harris is a member of the Democratic Party and was previously the attorney general of California between 2011 and 2017. In addition she was the United States senator representing California between 2017 and 2021. Harris was born in Oakland, California, Harris graduated from Howard University and the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Harris began her career at the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Then, she was recruited by the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. The office was named San Francisco district attorney in 2003. She was elected Attorney general of California in the year 2010. In 2014, she was elected to a second term. Harris was the junior United States Senator from California between 2017 to 2021. Harris beat Loretta Sanchez in the 2016 Senate election, becoming the 2nd African American woman and the first South Asian American to serve in the United States Senate. Harris was a senator who advocated for healthcare and federal de-scheduling cannabis. A pathway towards citizenship for migrants who aren't legal. The DREAM Act bans assault weapons and progressive tax reform. The sharp questions she asked Trump officials in Senate hearings has earned her national attention, which included the second Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh, who was charged with sexual assault.
